Alex and Hugh’s Sunday Funday Sydney Coastal Walk

The Plan
Here is the plan. We are going to walk from the southern most point of the Sydney Basin to the northern most point, along the coast. The Sydney Basin is bounded on the south by Botany Bay,  outflow of the Georges River, and on the north by Broken Bay, outflow of the Hawkesbury River. In between, of course, is Jackson Bay, aka Sydney Harbour.

This is probably one of the most beautiful pieces of coastline in the world. There is now a relatively well established system of walkways all the way along the coast (see http://www.walkingcoastalsydney.com.au/). We have done parts of it previously, but not the whole thing.

The second part of the plan is that we will do the walk on Sundays through the summer. This is because you can get cheap travel passes for Adults accompanied by children on Sundays that allow you to do unlimited travel for only $2.50 each (Sunday Funday: http://www.sydneyferries.info/myzone-tickets-and-fares/family-funday-sunday.htm).  We reckon it will take us ten Sundays to do the whole route.

The final part of the plan is that we would write a blog as we went. Neither of us know how to write a blog, so we thought this was a good way of learning. Also, we thought we would add useful information as we went, like what the paths are like, where the nice beaches are, perils to watch out for and more. Accompanying this, we will take useful pictures of us doing the walk. Finally, we will put some maps in here when we figure out how to do it.
